Villaricos is a charming fishing village, nestled between the Sierra Almagrera and the sea, bordered by the Almanzora River. The beaches near Villaricos, such as La Fabrica del Duro, La Boca del Rio, Las Brisas Beach, and Cala Verde, each offer a different experience, from serene, sandy bays to rocky spots perfect for snorkelling.
Cuevas del Almanzora
This historic town, named after its caves and the river that runs through it, is rich in cultural and archaeological significance. Key sites include the Marqués de Vélez Castle, housing the Antonio Manuel Campoy Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of Archaeology.
Vera
The town of Vera offers a blend of picturesque streets and historical landmarks such as the Church of Our lady of the Incarnation, that was built in the 16th Century as a fortress inside the fortified walls of the town. The town has a beautiful promenade and 3 beaches, with fine sands and crystal-clear waters, perfect for a day at the seaside.
Garrucha
Garrucha's main attraction lies in its rich history as an 18th-century port for the Levante mines, earning it the nickname "little San Sebastián." It became a popular holiday destination for affluent families and was home to the vice-consuls of ten countries. A walk through town leads to the El Malecón promenade, offering stunning views of Garrucha Beach and Jesús de Nazareno Castle. Garrucha has three notable ports: the marina, popular for water sports; the commercial port, formerly used for transporting minerals; and the fishing port, the second largest in Almería, where fresh fish is auctioned daily. The calm harbour beach is ideal for families, with table tennis, a children's play area, and numerous restaurants and bars along the promenade.
Mojácar
Mojácar is a stunning whitewashed hillside village with a history spanning over 4,000 years. The village has retained its Moorish charm, with narrow, winding streets leading to spectacular views. Mojácar’s beaches and coves stretch along 17km, which includes Playa Marina de la Torre, one of the 3 blue flagged beaches in Mojácar, offering a variety of water sports, Playa la Rumina, Playa Descargador, the 2nd beach to have the blue flag, Playa Piedra Villazar, the 3rd beach with a blue flag, Playa Vista de los Angeles, Playa del Cantal, with many chiringuitos, Playa del Lance Nuevo which is ideal for children, Playa Cueva del Lobo, Playa de las Ventanicas which is the longest and calmest sandy beach in Mojacar, Playa Macenas, a 1,400m long natural beach in the southernmost part of Mojácar, especially popular among locals who seek more seclusion, and Playa del Sombrerico.
Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park: A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this impressive park is just a short drive from Desert Springs, and is Andalucía's largest coastal protected area, offering a stunning mix of volcanic cliffs, hidden coves, and some of the region’s most beautiful beaches, including Los Muertos and Monsul. Known for its rugged terrain and diverse habitats, the park shelters rare plant species and a rich variety of wildlife, including flamingos and other migratory birds. The closest beach to the resort is El Playazo, the grand beach of Almanzora, that stretches a total of 7 Km down from the mouth of the Rio Almanzora, and Boca del Rio Beach in Villaricos, as far as the harbour town of Garrucha.

Indoor Swimming Pool - Mariana Pineda: Situated in Vera, just 10 minutes from the resort, this indoor pool offers swimming lessons for all ages and Aqua Gym courses. It is particularly well-suited for triathletes and training groups, with six lanes, group-changing rooms, and a gym.
Water Park in Vera: A short 10-minute drive from Desert Springs, this family-friendly water park features pools, slides, wave machines, picnic areas, bars, and restaurants. Tickets can be purchased at the resort’s Clubhouse to skip the lines.
Tabernas Desert - Wild West Adventures
Texas Hollywood: Located near Tabernas, this Western-themed park was built in the 1970s as a film set and later transformed into a tourist attraction. Visitors can enjoy mock shootouts, barroom brawls, and guided tours of the working film set.
Oasys Mini Hollywood: Originally built for Sergio Leone’s For a Few Dollars More in 1965, Oasys now operates as a theme park with daily cowboy stunt shows, a swimming complex, a zoo, and children's activities. It’s a must-visit for fans of classic Westerns like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Western Leone: This is the smallest of the three Western theme parks in the Tabernas Desert, originally built for Once Upon a Time in the West. It features the iconic red house from the film and other spaghetti Western sets. Though the nearby fortress has fallen into disrepair, the park remains an attraction for film buffs.
